Delta Awards $50 Travel Voucher to Pilot Accidentally Arrested By the FBI

Delta Air Lines commended a pilot who was wrongly arrested and interrogated by the FBI.

The pilot, who hasn’t been named publicly, received a $50 Delta Air Lines travel voucher “for exceptional bravery” after the FBI accidentally went to his room during a training exercise. The pilot was reportedly put in his bathroom shower and interrogated for nearly an hour before the agents realized their mistake.

“Travel disruptions happen from time to time. Delta is honored to present our esteemed pilot with a one-time $50 voucher he can use on a revenue flight of his choosing,” said Micah Hastings, Delta Air Lines’ Sr. Regional Manager of Internal Awards and Commendations. “We hope this display of goodwill makes up for his traumatic yet ultimately minor inconvenience.”

Sarah Baumann, Delta’s Interim Director of Federal Government-Related Funding, told The Takeoff Nap, “We understand mistakes happen and hold no ill will against the FBI or any of our magnificent federal agencies. Delta continues to welcome all government employees traveling with us and is always grateful for any taxpayer funding our wonderful federal government provides. Those vitally needed dollars help make employee awards possible — like this $50 travel voucher.”

Hastings noted that the pilot must cover any outstanding cash balance for the fare purchased and that the voucher must be redeemed by December 31, 2023.

“Our heroic pilot will be able to access Delta Sky Clubs on the days he travels using his voucher,” Hastings added, “because these will be revenue flights. Well, as long as he holds an eligible American Express card. He’s SOL when he non-revs.”
